Liu Bao is a type of fermented tea that is produced in Guangxi province, China. It has a rich history dating back over 1,000 years. Liu Bao shares many similarities with ripe (shou) puerh, as they are both fermented teas that undergo a microbial fermentation process.

Liu Bao's distinct rattan taste and drier mouthfeel come from the unique microbial culture used during the fermentation process. This tea is also considerably cheaper than puerh due to the lack of marketing hype and the puerh "halo."

To brew our Liu Bao, we recommend using boiling water and steeping for 30 seconds to 1 minute. As with any tea, adjust the steeping time and amount of tea leaves based on personal preference. Our Liu Bao is pressed tightly into large baskets and has been stored in the cellar to mature for 3 years, much like the process of flavoring and maturing whiskey.
